Life Lessons

Life Lessons I Learned While Waiting Tables

1. Never take things personally. If someone is rude to you, it usually has NOTHING to do with you

2. Listen carefully to others and repeat back when necessary. What you hear and what they say may not always be in synch and by repeating back, the customer feels you've really heard them.

3. Don't forget to filter. If the food comes up looking bad, send it back before letting it go to the customer. Don't say something without thinking first people!

4. Be polite if it kills you. You can catch more flies with honey.

5. Anticipate the needs of others. Families with kids obviously need extra napkins. Coffee drinkers need water. Sometimes people shouldn't have to ask. If you can sense you are needed, step up.

6. Speaking of coffee, NEVER let a coffee cup go empty. That's just wrong in general.
