Housewifery

I am in need of dinner ideas. I cook dinner each night (shocking to most of you, I know) but need some ideas. I am sick of rotating meats, veggies and side dish. I've overdone the taco soup and chicken casserole. Anyone have a goodie for me?

Also, what about rust stains in the bathtub? The previous tenants weren't putting salt in the water softener which left the downstairs bathtub looking funky. I can't bear to use it even though I know it's clean. Yucky

Another issue is the puppy! She barks and growls whenever she's just a teensy excited. I try shooshing her or making her "go to bed" but she isn't getting it. Do they grow out of that or should I be doing more?

And last, I REALLY miss having a dishwasher!!! Washing dishes by hand is practically barbaric :(

Kisses!

Oh man, I haven't been on it blog for forever.
What an emotional roller coaster! I'm so sorry your hubby is leaving, I can't even imagine how hard that must be! Will he get to come back for the birth?
I am sure he is so sad about it also.
On a happier note, I am so excited and happy that you are withchild again! I bet Isaac is so excited!
I know this won't make u feel better but at least you have such a supportive group of friends and family. Everyone will help you get through this.
Hang in there and try and just focus on the new bundle of joy you will be enjoying this summer!
Love u!!

Okay - what should work for the rust is a paste of baking soda and lemon juice and if it's really bad use a pumice stone to scrub it.

As for meals - here's some easy recipes.

In a crock pot cook 3 or 4 chicken breasts with a can of black beans and a cup of salsa. When the chicken is done, shred it with a fork and you can scoop it over rice or roll it in a tortilla.

Again in the crock pot - cook a small pork roast with a bottle of BBQ sauce and 1/2 cup of orange juice. Shred when cooked for pulled pork sandwiches.

Turkey Chili
1 to 2 lbs ground turkey breast – brown in olive oil
Add 1 chopped onion to turkey and brown
2 cans – 28 oz each can, stewed or minced tomatoes
1 can tomato paste (large can)
2 cups chicken broth
2 cans black beans
2 cans corn
2 cans garbanzo beans
2 chopped red bell peppers
Add turkey & onion to the above

1 TBSP garlic powder
3 minced garlic cloves
3 TBSP chili powder
3 tsp basil flakes
½ tsp red pepper flakes
2 tsp Tabasco
Simmer for 1 to 2 hours

California Tamale Pie
1 lb. ground sirloin
1 lg. onion
1 bunch scallions
1 pkg. Lawry's taco seasoning mix
1 env. Lipton onion soup
1 (12 oz.) can whole kernel corn
Salt to taste
Garlic to taste
4 oz. grated Cheddar cheese
1 c. yellow cornmeal
6 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. fat

The tamale pie will consist of a meat mixture, covered with a cornbread topping. Saute ground sirloin, onions, scallions, salt, and garlic until meat is completely done. Drain fat; add taco mix and onion soup. Mix well. Add whole kernels of corn. Set aside. Cook cornmeal, water, and salt until mixture forms a paste like consistency. Add fat when mixture is taken off the fire. In a casserole dish, make a layer of meat mixture, a layer of grated cheese, alternating until at least 3 layers of each have been made. Cover the casserole layers with the prepared cornbread topping. Bake casserole in oven (350 degrees) until cornbread topping is golden brown.

Now - I know nothing about how to solve your pet troubles! Good luck!!

Food Ideas--watch that 10-minute meal lady online; she knows her sh*t.
Rust stains? Ask the local Mexicans where they buy their "Agua Fuerte." I don't know what's in that stuff, but you have to wear dragon-skin gloves to clean with it. I think you can buy it at Home Depot type stores, but seriously, the Mexicans will know.
Puppy: The Dog Whisperer says you have to show dominance. Spraying it with squirt gun each time, or grabbing it firmly by the neck and hold him firmly to the ground with your face close to his. You have to be really consistent with puppies. It seems mean, but it works and you wont have to do it for very long, a couple days.
PS-i read your blog quite often. you're a great writer, sis. That's not sunshine i'm blowing up your bum either!
