I have to say that will all of the ups and downs of the military, I've been most grateful for the insurance! Yesterday, Daphne had her physical therapy and I just kept thinking about how we really couldn't afford this otherwise. She has her physical therapy on thursdays and occupational therapy on tuesdays.
Her physical therapist uses a hollistic approach, which basically means that she is less invasive and tries to make the work come naturally through play. When we were taking her in Utah (for her torticollis) they were stretching her over and over until she was screaming and in tears every single time. Her new therapist takes her in a room packed to the brim with toys and sets up ways for her to get to them that can help her. Now that Daphne is mobile, the torticollis has sort of changed and moved down her back. She favors one side and scoots instead of crawls and has trouble bearing weight evenly on both feet. Her gross motor skills are at about that of a 6 month old. (Most of my peeps know this but for you newbies, that's the lowdown...kinda)
The occupational therapist actually comes to our home to work with Daphne. She helps us find ways in our own home to do the same work the PT does. We set goals and come up with ways together to help her improve. Doesn't it sound fabulous? I feel spoiled :) She is getting exceptional care and we can already see her making progress.

The First Day Of School
Last night we got everything ready for Isaac to start 4th grade. I still can't believe he is 9 years old! I sure hope that he likes his new school. I must have looked a fright this morning because I had very little rest. Daphne is sick today and spent the night coughing and coughing. Our cat now sleeps in our room because the dog wants to eat her (not play like we had thought) and decided that she wanted to play all night long. Every time I changed positions she jumped on top of me. I eventually kicked her out which ended up leaving her to her own devices in Isaac's room. Poor baby thought there was a robber in the house and came running in to wake me up!
Finally the long night was over and it was time to get ready for school :) We had missed the teacher meet and greet so we didn't know where his class was. I asked him if I could walk him so that he had help finding his classroom but he said he would be waaaay too embarrassed. I started to tell him how he could just go to the office and ask where his class was but he began to look panicked. Then, he came up with a solution. "You know what Mom? I bet that people would just think that you are my sister...who is in college...taking online courses." It took all my strength not to giggle. I love my boy so much.

Nugget Lanes
We took the kiddos bowling this afternoon and it was too fun. We were the only people there so we could goof off and let Daphne hop around. Isn't she a doll?

Tae Kwon Do
I just dropped off Isaac and his cousins to a party at his TaeKwon Do Class. I walked in and they had a huge bounce house up and the room was filled with beach balls. I look around and none of the parents are there so I asked the instructor if anyone was staying and he said I could stay if I wanted but he was giving the parents a night off. Awesome :) There are 5 instructors turned babysitters for the night and if they misbehave, I'm sure pushups will be involved. This is such a nice gesture that I have to give a shout out to Kim's Academy!
If you have boys, this is the class to take. Isaac loves it so much and he is really learning a lot about
discipline and respect in addition to his "awesome moves".

Anyone else hate their neighbors kids?
There is a neighbor girl that plays with Isaac occasionally and it takes everything in me not to be rude to her. She is one that asks too many questions, invites herself and doesn't take a hint. She came by last night and I let her come in for a minute (so I thought) until we were heading out to run errands and go to church. She started looking at my paparazzi jewelry display and was picking it up and touching everything. She said that her dad was giving her $25 dollars tomorrow and she wanted to buy a few things. I told her I would be happy to put a bag together for her and save her things until tomorrow. She left for a bit and came back claiming that her Dad was wondering if she could do some housework for me in exchange for jewelry. She then says "My dad said I should ask if I could do housework at my house for it but I didn't think that was a good idea". Wow! Next, she asks if she can have her jewelry tonight and pay me tomorrow. I of course told her sorry but no.
It was time for us to get going and she does what she always does. "Can I come with you?" I explain that we are running errands before church and that it wouldn't be a good idea for her to come along. She starts playing with Daphne and says "I think she really wants me to come. She really likes me." I tell her that yes, Daphne does like her, but I am already overwhelmed with two kids. If her Dad wanted to drive her to meet us at church, I could drive her back but I couldn't bring her along to run errands. She says they don't have a car and I say maybe another time. I again say that we are going to go now and she throws in "you know, I could help watch Isaac for you". Really? They are almost the same age. Nice try missy. At this point I have to say "Okay, I am kicking you out now. You need to go please. We are trying to leave." FINALLY she leaves. Grrr.
Just now the doorbell rings and there she is again asking if Isaac can play. I tell her yes but she will need to wait by the door because the baby is trying to sleep. She then goes into the playroom and starts getting into Isaacs toys. I do not like this little girl!

Over already
I can't believe Christmas has come and gone. Even though I had to spend it without Hubby, it really was a great day. Isaac spent the morning at his Dad's and came back so happy. Little Daphne got to skype with Daddy and "open her presents". We went to my Moms house and then to the in-laws after that. It was so much fun to watch all of the kids running around. I can't believe how big our family is growing :)
By the time we got home, Daphne was pretty sick. She seems to have a cold and is sleeping a lot during the day and staying awake at night. I guess she had too much excitement.
When I got up this morning, my house looked like a tornado hit for real. Isaac had every single toy out and none of the wrappers and garbage thrown out. We have been cleaning all day and he has been giving me some serious attitude. I hate that my eight year old now rolls his eyes at me. Uh oh. He's 8 going on 13.
It's been a crazy few days but as always I can go to bed knowing I am so blessed and fortunate to be living this life. I love my kids! I love my hubby! I love my family and my friends! Life is so good

My Big Baby
I received a call from the office of Isaac's school yesterday saying that he was having an asthma attack and I needed to come give him a treatment. I got there and found out that the reason he was having trouble is that the school had a fire drill that morning. Apparently, they don't get to put their coats on. They just have to file out of the school immediately. So because he was out in the cold for so long, he got sick. Good times. I called the doctor to see if we could get something that he could keep at school in case I wasn't able to get there and they scheduled us to come in for an appointment that afternoon.
We got to the office and got him all setup with extra stuff then, our Doctor asked if he had his flu vaccine yet. Nope. He hears the conversation and begins to cry. I asked if he could have the spray mist but he can't because of his athsma. The Doctor also felt that it was really important that he get vaccination because sickness does tend to be a trigger for his attacks.
We went back to the immunization area and he flings himself onto the floor of the waiting room and begins to wail. Mind you, this is a big-for-his-age-eight-year-old boy doing this. I start in with telling him that he isn't allowed to act like that in public. He can't lay on their floor and he certainly can't scream at the top of his lungs! I get him to sit in a chair and cry quietly to himself. While he's having a pity party, I ask the lady administering it if this was going to be okay. She said they would make it work because he did actually HAVE to get vaccine. She tried talking to him and I tried talking to him but he was just hysterical. After about 30 minutes of trying to reason with him, him promising that he just needs a minute to calm himself down, and me having to pry his fingers from the door jam, he starts having an athsma attack because he's got himself so worked up. I say "Okay, if you can't do it, we have to do it for you". A male attendant joins us and I tell Isaac to give me a hug because we're just going to do it. He grabs me tight, the guy holds his hands in place and the nurse gives him the shot. He SCREAMED!!!!
After she was done he looks at me and says "I am really sorry Mom, that didn't hurt". On our way out, he probably apologized 20 times. He felt pretty embarrassed for causing such a scene. I was embarrassed for him...and myself. After the whole ordeal he remembers that there was an elderly lady who was in there before us. He says to me "Mom, even an old Grandma is braver than me!"

Growing Up
I posted this on FB already so forgive me if this is a repeat for you but the other day I got a very interesting email from Isaac's teacher. She said that she caught him with a "Bates Buck" (pretend money for school) that he had scratched out her face and written the word "ASS" on. He is 8 years old! WTH? I don't know where my little boy has gone. He has started to sass me, roll his eyes and use sarcasm. I miss the days when he would sit on my lap and let me kiss his hair. I just can't believe how quickly he is growing up and why in the world is he writing swear words? :( Raising kids seriously breaks your heart doesn't it? I can't even begin to imagine how hard it will be when he hits puberty! My little baby isn't a baby any more.

Coffee Shop of Horrors
I was at my local coffee shop getting some stuff online done while enjoying a yummy cup of coffee. Daphne had just got up from her nap and was being such a good girl. Suddenly, she starts doing her infamous grunts that warn of an impending diaper change. I have her sitting on my lap and am waiting for her to finish, when I feel a warm wet sensation on my pant leg. She doesn't just have a wet diaper, she has had explosive diarrhea all over my leg and up the back of her outfit. The smell was horrifying! There was no way I could possibly change her. I had to wrap her in a blanket and run the hell out of there. She had to go straight in the bathtub. Not fun y'all. Babies are cute and cuddly and wonderful in so many ways but keep in mind that it is a 5 year minimum sentence of vomit and shit mmmmk.

Oooh Shiny Syndrome
I haven't blogged in a bit because I have been distracted, yet again. I will get to that later. We took Daphne in for her head ultrasound and everything went well. She does have a bit of fluid on her brain but not enough to cause any damage and it should go away on it's own. The doctor said that some kids just don't absorb it as quickly as others. I am sooo relieved! She has been doing pretty well. I think she has started teething because she drools like crazy and has been wanting to chew on something constantly. Even so, she is such good and happy baby girl.
Isaac has been doing well too. He is doing great in school and still continues to have lots of friends around our apartment complex. He did get in a bit of trouble last week but I am hoping that we have worked it out. He left for school at 7:30 (school doesn't start until 9) so that he could play. He didn't ask me and I woke up to him being gone. I went to the bus stop and he wasn't there. His Dad went to his school to see if he walked early and he wasn't there either. We were so worried that he hap been kidnapped. Thankfully he turned up at the apartments. Phew
I had my first boutique on Saturday where I sold my purses www.facebook.com/riccithebaghag and was able to sell a few. It was good to have the experience and trial and error of setting up a display. While I was there, I got hooked on my friends booth for Paparazzi Jewelry http://www.paparazziricci.blogspot.com/ and have decided to add that to my bag of tricks. I'm pretty excited because i think it will be a great compliment to my handbags and the jewelry is soooo cute. Did I mention it's just $5? I even booked my first boutique December 2&3rd.
So now it's time for my shameless plug for my new stuff. Paparazzi has headbands, necklaces, rings, bracelets etc. for just $5. This stuff is really, really cute too. If you would be willing to give me a couple hours of your time by hosting a party/open house, I would be genuinely grateful and heart you forever. You would also get 2 free items of your choice. I would bring the stuff to show and your friends can take it home, no orders needed. If you set it up as an open house rather than a party, they can just come and go as they please within a 2 hour block. Let me know if you could do this for me or know anyone. *kisses*
I will try to be better at keeping up with my little blog, I just get so easily distracted. I get excited over something and then quickly move on to the next thing. I feel like I need to keep busy though. It's weird not having to work (Thank you DH) and I feel a need to be moving, so to speak. Once we are settled in a place I would like to do daycare at home but until then, I need projects people!
That's it for now. Thoughts? Suggestion?

Poor Birdie
My baby bird, Daphne, had her four month well child chcekup today. She had to get her vaccinations and it was the saddest ever! She cried and cried. Even her beloved binky didn't console her :( Another issue we had is that her head is larger than normal. It has always been that way but I guess it's gone way up since her last appointment (head circumference over 99%). We are scheduled to have a head ultrasound at Primay Children's on Tuesday to rule out anything serious. The doctor did feel that it was probably nothing because Daphne is developing normally and has no other issues that would indicate a problem. Still, I'm so worried.
My little Isaac has been having issues too. He is having athsma problems, which is very normal for him this time of year, but I hate that he has to go through it. I want my babies to be healthy all the time and never experience any pain EVER. Is that too much to ask? Having kids breaks your heart over and over again and mine aren't even grown yet. It is so hard to see them experience anything that hurts them. I wish I could take it all away or take or for them.
I just adore my babies so much! Who's with me?

ISAAC IS AWESOME!
I asked Isaac what I should blog about today and his response was "Isaac is awesome!!!" So here we go...
Isaac is awesome because he is so smart! He loves to read, he's doing great in school and he is telling me something new he's learned every day. He is so creative and imaginative. He is also such a compassionate and helpful little boy. He loves his sister so much and I couldn't have asked for a better brother for her. I've caught him giving her kisses on her nose and when we are out, he loves to show her off. He is such a great kid! He is so good at making friends and he's my little social butterfly. Whenever we go to the coffee shop, he runs into lots of people he knows. I am so proud of him.
You know what else? My Daphne is awesome too. She's trying so hard to sit up whenever she's laying down. She has learned how to make spit bubbles and she yells to hear her own voice. Her little personality is unfolding everyday. She is so laid back and hardly ever causes a fuss. She doesn't even cry really, just squawks a bit if it's really important.
Also awesome-
Jeans that fit just right
Vanilla cinnamon lattes
Friends you can talk about anything with
My Nook
Gluten free bakeries
Dishwashers
Hoodies that zip up
Daphne's stretches when she first wakes up
Chile Rellenos
Married Life
Half price coffee refills
Isaac during our bedtime routine (this includes him saying "amen" after prayers for Merrill, Daphne and Daisy)
