We Need Therapy

I have to say that will all of the ups and downs of the military, I've been most grateful for the insurance! Yesterday, Daphne had her physical therapy and I just kept thinking about how we really couldn't afford this otherwise. She has her physical therapy on thursdays and occupational therapy on tuesdays.

Her physical therapist uses a hollistic approach, which basically means that she is less invasive and tries to make the work come naturally through play. When we were taking her in Utah (for her torticollis) they were stretching her over and over until she was screaming and in tears every single time. Her new therapist takes her in a room packed to the brim with toys and sets up ways for her to get to them that can help her. Now that Daphne is mobile, the torticollis has sort of changed and moved down her back. She favors one side and scoots instead of crawls and has trouble bearing weight evenly on both feet. Her gross motor skills are at about that of a 6 month old. (Most of my peeps know this but for you newbies, that's the lowdown...kinda)

The occupational therapist actually comes to our home to work with Daphne. She helps us find ways in our own home to do the same work the PT does. We set goals and come up with ways together to help her improve. Doesn't it sound fabulous?  I feel spoiled :) She is getting exceptional care and we can already see her making progress.
