I remember when college students seemed older and mature but here I am, older than the lot of them. Also, across the way, is a guy that looks a lot like that kidnapper Brian Mitchell whatever. He's very creepy and greasy looking. I hear a lot of people come to Alaska to run away from the law and I can definitely see the truth in that.
We moved into our cute house and I absolutely adore it. We will have to go without furniture for a while though because army only supplies rental furniture if you live on post. We are off post and out of luck...racists.
The kiddo likes his school and has had no problem making friends. I am so happy to see him happy :) He has lots of stories for us after school. I am still in shock though that they hold recess until it's more than -20 degrees. It boggles my mind.
There are also some things I didn't know that I thought may be of interest. There is no gas to heat homes. You actually have to pay for oil to be filled every month for heating. We also can't drink our water and there is no garbage removal. We have to take it to some place. And most of all I miss home. I am very homesick but I have to say though that I am very grateful for this experience. When will I ever have an opportunity like this? I love all the quirks because we are making some awesome memories.
